Our mission

The Quebec Fair Trade Town initiative, brings together several international cooperation organizations and fair trade businesses. It has the mandate to obtain the Fair Trade Town designation for La Capitale-Nationale region. This designation is awarded by Fairtrade Canada. The Fair Trade Town Program is an initiative of Fairtrade Canada, managed in partnership with the Canadian Fair Trade Network (CFTN) and the Association Québécoise du commerce équitable (AQCÉ).

The Fair Trade Town Program recognizes municipalities for demonstrating strong commitment to fair trade through community stakeholders, including local municipal authorities (such as a city council), businesses, community groups, and individual members. It promotes awareness and support for fair trade, and has been designed to address the needs and opportunities available from a range of communities, large and small, across Canada.

Contest : Look out for Fair Trade!

Take the chance to win a fair trade basket by participating to our contest!
Look out for fair trade products in Quebec City during the whole month of May: How can you participate? When you encounter a fair trade product in a grocery store, a convenience store or a boutique in the city of Quebec, take a picture of this product with your smartphone and post it on our Facebook page while letting us know where you’ve found it!
At the end of the month, the coordinating committee will draw a winner from among the people who participated in the contest.
The winner will be announced on the evening of May 31st on our Facebook page!

4th edition of the Quebec Fair Trade Month Awards Evening 

 OnSaturday May 13th from 17h30 to 19h30 at La Korrigane: 380, Dorchester street, Quebec (Quebec) G1K 6A7 The Quebec Fair Trade Month will present its awards for the fourth consecutive year at La Korrigane (380, Dorchester Boulevard, Quebec) on Saturday, May 13th 2017 from 17:30 to 19:30 on the occasion of the World Fair Trade Day.
Are you a Pioneer? Have you innovated? You got involved? Have you sensitized new audiences? You cooperated with producers in the South? Are you an entrepreneur? Your actions have advanced fair trade in / to Quebec and have been noticed by the public? The Fair Trade Schools program recognizes schools for demonstrating strong commitment to fair trade from its students, teachers, and administrators.

It promotes awareness and support for fair trade principles by addressing the unique opportunities that students, teachers, and administrators have to discuss and educate about social justice.

The Fair Trade Schools Program is an initiative of Fairtrade Canada, managed in partnership with the Canadian Fair Trade Network (CFTN) and the Association Québécoise du commerce équitable (AQCÉ).

The Fair Trade Event program recognizes events that demonstrate to participants, a strong commitment to fair trade by raising the social consciousness in their circle of friends or the community at large.

It works with individuals, community and event organizers to educate and raise awareness for a better and a fairer way to support the people who grow and make our everyday products.
