The availability of fair trade products in the Capitale-Nationale region
The achievement of this objective must demonstrate that the City of Quebec offers Fairtrade certified products proportional to the size of its population. Since Quebec has a population of 516,625, we must demonstrate that the Capitale-Nationale region offers fair trade products in 54 grocery stores and boutiques, as well as 27 restaurants and cafes.
Several steps have already been taken to achieve this objective.
The Equiterre action group of Quebec recently worked on updating their repertoire which they presented to the public during the Quebec Fair Trade Fortnight of 2013. Here is the result of this work: http: // www.equiterre.org / solution / or-find-fair.
In addition, the Quebec Fair Trade Month Consortium launched its «Look for Fair Trade» contest. This contest allows every citizen who finds a fair product in a grocery store, a boutique, a restaurant, or a coffee shop in Quebec City to take a picture of it and send it to the Facebook page of the Quebec Fair Trade Month.
